Lead Special Hazard & Alarm Detection Technician
American Fire Protection Group is growing! Because of this growth we are seeking to add an ambitious Special Hazards Alarm and Detection (SHAD) Technician to our team in Jackson, TN. The SHAD Technician is primarily responsible for the installation, repair, troubleshooting, and programming of fire alarms and special hazards systems in commercial, industrial, health care, and other facilities. Job Responsibilities
- Install, service, and repair fire alarm and special hazard systems.
- Troubleshoot system issues using testing tools and meters.
- Run and connect wiring, conduit, and equipment for fire alarm and low-voltage systems.
- Program and test alarm panels and monitoring systems.
- Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
- Lead and support crews to meet project schedules and budgets.
- Ensure safety, quality, and customer satisfaction on all jobs.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles.
- Stay up to date with NFPA and Life Safety codes.
- Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities.
Job Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED – College Degree a plus
- 1-2 years of special hazards experience or fire alarm experience
- Fire Alarm Service , Low Voltage Electronics and Special Hazards systems experience
- Gamewell FCI/Fire Lite/Silent Knight
- Fire Alarm Design or layout is a plus
- NICET II Certification or above is a plus but must have the ability to become NICET Certified.
- Physically capable of performing the essential functions of being a Fire Alarm Technician including: handling material potentially in excess of 80lbs.; working with tools off scaffolds, ladders, and aerial lifts at heights potentially in excess of 100 ft; working in confined spaces; and working in adverse weather conditions.

- Well-developed active listening, critical thinking, and deductive reasoning skills.
- Have a valid driver’s license and an acceptable DMV record.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- In person.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds.
