Fire Alarm Technician Position 

The function of this position is to provide reliable, high quality customer support through on-site inspecting, installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and/or replacing fire alarm equipment as well as conducting preventative maintenance services pertaining to many different manufacturers’ equipment. 


This position has a salary range of up to $45 per hour depending on experience and held licenses.


 Job Responsibilities 

  • Installation and programming of fire protection alarm systems for commercial applications (including piping, valves, and accessories). 
  • Document time worked as well as all paperwork relating to assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Must prepare accurate and timely documentation for work performed, complete monthly vehicle reports, and maintain truck inventory to ensure proper response to customers’ needs. 
  • Must adhere to company safety policies and procedures. 
  • Must communicate effectively - both verbally and in writing. 
  • Must ensure positive customer experience. 
  • Must have a strong work ethic. 
  • Must be detail oriented. 


 Job Qualifications 

  • High School Diploma or GED, Electronic trade school training is an asset
  • Journeyman's License, preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in the fire and life safety industry
  • FAL License
  • Gamewell/FCI Certification, preferred (or other manufacturer certifications)
  • Proven ability to independently diagnose and resolve system issues in the field
  • Strong working knowledge of fire alarm systems, devices, and installation practices
  • Ability to work independently as a senior technician with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills with a professional, customer focused approach
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all required state and/or local licenses
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening, background check and reference verification

 

 Physical Requirements & Work Environment 

  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, twist, reach, push, pull, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
  • Use of hands and arms for handling, installing, and servicing equipment
  • Strong visual abilities including close, distance, peripheral, depth, and color vision
  • Comfortable working in challenging environments, including: Ladders, scaffolding, and lift equipment, tight or confined spaces (crawl spaces, attics, above ceilings) & around wiring, ductwork, and active construction environments
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Willingness to work a full-time, flexible schedule, including on-call rotations
  • Ability to travel on short notice as needed
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle for extended periods (day and evening travel)
