We are looking for a Safety & Risk Leader who will partner with operational leaders to drive a proactive safety culture, reduce risk, and support our growth.
Position Summary
The Safety & Risk Leader is responsible for implementing and managing 3S Incorporated’s safety and risk management programs. This role partners with operational leaders, project managers, field supervisors, and technicians to ensure a safe work environment in both construction and service settings (shop, field, service vehicles, customer facilities).
This position reports to the Controller and is a key contributor to the company‑wide safety strategy, while also owning day‑to‑day execution and support.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Leadership & Culture
- Serve as the safety leader and primary point of contact for safety and risk issues at 3S Incorporated.
- Coach and influence operation and project leadership to drive accountability for safety performance.
- Promote a proactive safety culture focused on hazard recognition, near‑miss reporting, learning, and continuous improvement.
- Lead safety committees, toolbox talks, and safety stand‑downs as needed.
Program Implementation & Compliance
- Implement corporate safety and risk management policies, procedures, and initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, DOT/fleet safety requirements, and applicable NFPA standards, as well as state and local regulations.
- Conduct regular field and facility audits/inspections (jobsites, shops, offices, warehouses, and vehicles) and follow up on corrective actions.
- Support pre‑task planning, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and site‑specific safety plans for construction and service projects.
Incident Prevention, Investigation & Claims
- Monitor safety performance metrics (e.g., TRIR, DART, lost time, near misses, vehicle incidents) and identify trends and root causes.
- Lead or assist in incident and near‑miss investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action development.
- Coordinate with HR, operations, and insurance partners on workers’ compensation and liability claims, supporting return‑to‑work efforts and cost control.
- Support fleet safety efforts, including MVR reviews, driver coaching, and vehicle incident investigations.
Training & Employee Development
- Deliver and coordinate safety training (OSHA, NFPA, task‑specific, new‑hire orientation, driver safety, etc.) for field and office employees.
- Ensure required certifications and recurring training are tracked and kept current.
- Mentor supervisors and foremen in conducting effective toolbox talks, jobsite safety meetings, and hazard assessments.
Risk Management & Continuous Improvement
- Participate in the development and rollout of company‑wide safety initiatives, policies, and tools.
- Recommend practical improvements to procedures, PPE, equipment, and training based on field observations.
- Support customer and GC safety prequalification and audits, including documentation and jobsite walkthroughs when required.
Communication & Reporting
- Provide regular safety performance updates and action plans to the leadership team.
- Maintain accurate and timely safety records, logs, and reports (training, inspections, incidents, leading indicators).
- Represent 3S Incorporated in interactions with regulatory agencies, insurance carriers, and customers as needed.
Qualifications
Required
- 3+ years of progressive safety experience in construction, fire protection, electrical, mechanical, industrial, or related trades environment.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA standards (general industry and construction) and practical application on jobsites.
- Experience conducting field safety audits, incident investigations, and delivering safety training.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and coach field leaders and technicians without direct authority.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record and ability to travel extensively within assigned region.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Risk Management, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Professional certifications such as: CHST, OHST, ASP, CSP, CRIS, or similar.
- Experience in fire protection, alarm, special hazards, sprinkler, or life safety systems.
- Experience with multi‑state operations safety role.
- Familiarity with NFPA codes and standards relevant to fire protection and life safety.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
- Visits to construction sites, industrial facilities, and field environments (indoor and outdoor, all seasons).
- Ability to walk, stand, climb ladders, and navigate active jobsites.
- Frequent driving; occasional overnight travel depending on project needs.
