Regional Design Leader Position
The Regional Design Leader ensures profitable and efficient design of quality fire protection systems through proactive management of the design departments. You will be responsible to plan and execute the accomplishment of department directives, as well as perform a wide variety of duties required to ensure the efficient day to day operations of the design departments for the Houston, San Antonio, and College Station offices.
This position has a salary range of $100K-$140K depending on experience.
Job Responsibilities
- Organize personnel to accomplish goals efficiently; prioritize and focus work efforts as required and assist in the recruitment of additional personnel as required.
- Monitor progress of projects, confer with Division Leaders, Operation Leaders, Superintendents and Designers and ensure progression according to planned schedules and budgeted costs.
- Conduct regular design meetings and provide written summary with action items to the appropriate Division Leader.
- Responsible for oversight of the financial aspects of design labor including budgeted vs actual hours used.
- Manage all design professionals, providing mentorship and overseeing the workflow process.
- Maintain high level oversight of design quality control on projects from Sales to Design Handoff through completed installation.
- Ensure proper handoff of project information throughout the project life cycle.
- Responsible for the code and specification correctness of designs, reports and proposals.
- Ensure company safety guidelines are followed and that installation risks identified in design are communicated to the operations team.
- Consult with management to identify, plan, and develop methods to continually obtain greater efficiency and improve business processes.
- Document and maintain historical records of all design correspondence and deliverable documents.
- Visit jobsites periodically as needed to view and audit the installation and assisting field personnel with design and coordination issues.
- Perform design and/or project management functions on select projects as directed and agreed upon by the Regional Division Leaders.
- Assist sales and estimating team as required for proper design schemes and design labor estimates.
- Produce design concept drawings and hydraulic calculations for sales presentations.
- Assist Division Leaders as necessary to lead the Region to success.
Job Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability with AutoCAD, AutoSprink, HydraCAD, or other specialized fire sprinkler layout software.
- NICET Level 3 or 4 in Water-Based Systems Layout and Texas RME-G Certification (or ability to obtain it within three months)
- 3 or more years in supervisory experience.
- 7 or more years of successful construction industry experience with knowledge of Fire Protection industry. Fire Alarm Design and/or Special Hazard experience is a plus.
- Willing to coordinate and work well with others.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Able to pass a post-offer drug test, background and reference checks.
