Overview

The Commissioning Technician at 3S Incorporated is responsible for checkout, troubleshooting, programming, testing, and training on system installations. This role serves as the site's technical expert and will travel to various sites as needed for commissioning activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Travel to job sites across North America to troubleshoot technical installation issues along with programming control panels and other devices.
• Verify the operation of all initiation, notification, interlock, and releasing devices
• Complete required commissioning forms
• Provide on-site end-user system training
• Ensure installations meet contract documents, NFPA standards, FM Global requirements, and client specifications.
• Coordinate inspections, testing, and system commissioning.
• Address punch list items and ensure timely closeout.
• Enforce company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and site-specific safety requirements.
• Conduct job hazard analyses (JHAs), toolbox talks, and safety audits Communication & Client Coordination.
• Participate in coordination meetings, look-ahead planning, and progress reviews.
• Provide accurate daily reports, schedules, and status updates to project leadership.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to learn data center procedures and policies.
• Detail-oriented with strong documentation and reporting skills.
• Strong leadership in high-pressure, schedule-driven environments.
• Ability to study and obtain NICET certification(s) and required state licenses.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and/or other related systems

Qualifications and Experience

• High School Diploma
• Demonstrated experience with fire protection systems (suppression and life safety).
• NICET certification (Level I-IV) in Fire Alarm, Special Hazards or related discipline is preferred but not preferred
• OSHA 30-Hour Certification preferred but not required
• Familiarity with NFPA, FM Global, and local AHJ requirements is highly preferred but not required

Physical Requirements

• Flexibility to work weekends or night shifts as business needs require.
• Travelling will be required to perform this role.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
• Prolonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds at times.
