Fire Alarm Designer
Successful candidate should like working with others and being part of a team. As a Fire Alarm Designer, you will be responsible for creating comprehensive fire alarm system designs that meet project specifications, client needs, and regulatory requirements. Your work will involve collaborating with architects, engineers, and clients to develop effective solutions that ensure safety and compliance with fire codes and industry standards. You will utilize design software and your technical expertise to create detailed layout drawings, schematics, and specifications for fire alarm systems in various types of buildings.
Job Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret building construction documents such as drawings, specifications and other contract documents.
- Prepare fire alarm shop drawings, specifications, equipment submittals and computer hydraulic calculations as needed for compliance with applicable fire protection codes.
- Prepare material data submittals for fire alarm equipment and material as necessary.
- Survey existing buildings for accurate, economical installation of fire alarm systems.
- Work closely with Design Manager, Sr. Designer, Project Managers, field staff and other employees throughout the company.
- Generate Request for Information Forms (RFI’s), test certificates and Operation and Maintenance Manuals (O&M’s).
- Attend Project Manager’s meetings as necessary.
- Attend related training classes, courses and seminars as requested by supervisor.
Job Qualifications:
- NICET certification - Level I or higher.
- Previous years' experience in commercial and/or industrial fire alarm design.
- CAD experience.
- Ability to read & analyze building construction documents.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to work in a timely manner and meet deadlines.
- Must possess a valid unrestricted driver's license.
- Must be able to drive to job sites.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Ability to communicate properly and professionally, both verbally and by documentation.
- Ability to coordinate and work well with others.
Compensation & Benefits:
IFP does not provide benefits for part-time employees under 20 hours. Should you begin working over 20 hours per week in the future, benefits include:
- Medical and prescription insurance (Eligible 30 days after start date)
- Fifteen PTO days (Eligible 90 days after start of employment, pro-rated first year)
- 401K (Eligible after 20 days of work, the first day of the following month)
- License, certification, and training fees (included for part-time employees)
